MagniComp(tm) announces the release of SysInfo(tm) 7 beta0
with major new features such as
Virtual Machine recognition, System Services,
and Operating System Patch reporting.
NEW FEATURES
This release features significant new features such as
the new Virtual Machine class recognition, System Services class,
and Operating System Patch reporting class.
The major new features are:
- Operating System Patches (Patch class)
is a new data class which reports all patches applied to the operating
system.
The reported data includes patch ID, summary, description, date
installed, bug fix IDs, status, and much more.
- Service
is a new data class which reports all system services (aka servers) which
are configured on the system.
The reported data includes service name, ID, description, state, and
enabled boot levels.
- Virtual Machine Guests (VmGuest class)
is a new data class which reports on all configured VM Guest Operating Systems.
Reported data includes name of VM, VM software info, guest OS name and
version, guest serial number, guest CPU count, and guest IP hostname.
- Virtual Machine Host (VmHost class)
is a new data class which reports if the current Operating System is
run inside a Virtual Machine Host environment.
Reported data includes the name of the VM host, the VM software name,
version, and vendor.
- CPU Count data
in the General class has been revamped to more accurately reflect
multi-core CPU's and for consistancy.
The The following description
changes have been made:
- "CPU Count - Physical" is a new item which provides the count of physical CPUs which includes each core on multi-core CPUs.
- "Number of CPUs (Physical)" is now "CPU Count - Socketed"
- "Number of CPUs (Virtual)" is now "CPU Count - Virtual"
- "Number of CPUs (Online)" is now "CPU Count - Online"
- "Number of CPUs (Offline)" is now "CPU Count - Offline"
The report keys for all of these remain
the same.
- IP Forwarding Enabled is now reported as part of the Network class.
- USB Device Database has been added to augment and enhance reporting of USB devices.
- DHCP Client
configuration information is now reported as part of the
Network Interface class.
- Installer improvements
have been implemented to check to make sure the installer is being run on the
proper platform.
- Documentation has been updated and expanded including
major new updates to
the User Guide.

LICENSING
This release will run in demo mode with full functionality for
thirty (30) days.
Permanent licenses are available for purchase from the MagniComp
Customer Service Center online at
http://www.magnicomp.com/cgi-bin/mcservices.cgi
Customers with valid maintenance agreements can also receive free license
upgrades from the same online Customer Service Center.
The Storage System class requires a license in order to use this
feature. A Storage System Base license is built into the
SysInfo product and provides basic storage system data such as make, model,
serial number, and storage capacity.
A Storage System Professional license is required to receive the
full spectrum of storage system data.
Storage System Professional licenses must be purchased either with
a SysInfo product license purchase or seperately.

A demo license of
Storage System Professional is built into the SysInfo product and
is enabled automatically for 30 days - with or without a permanent SysInfo product license - after which time the license
reverts to a Storage System Base level.
You always need a valid demo or permanent SysInfo product license in order
to use any edition of the Storage System feature.
